Debbie Broughton is a poet, teacher, performer and creator of public art that reconnects stories to whenua and wai.

Debbie's poetry was first published at Te Aro Pā in the Courtenay Place Lightboxes in her exhibition Magical Māori Mystery Tour of Wellington. Her first poetry book, The Ani Waaka Room, was published by Te Tākupu at Te Wananga o Raukawa.

She also writes and performs as a member of Te Aro Pā Poets with her whanaunga Hana Buchanana and Rachel Buchanan.

Debbie has a Tāhuhu Ahunga Tikanga (Masters in Māori Laws and Philosophy) from Te Wānanga o Raukawa, and an LLB from Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington.
